The Global Citizens in Action Online Leadership Certificate Program is based on Global Citizen, LLC's evidence-based Global Citizenry Education for Young People framework and curriculum. Through their participation in the program, young people raise their global awareness and engagement, increase their capacity to interact and collaborate more effectively with people from different cultures, identities, and countries, and strengthen their commitment to advance equity, diversity, inclusion, and social and environmental justice for a better world.

Students participate in small, diverse learning cohorts that meet for seven live virtual sessions. They complete assignments independently in preparation for each live session. Students can expect to spend approximately 40 hours on live sessions and independent assignments over the course of the program. Participants compile their work into a portfolio of products that they can feature in future leadership and academic programs and college applications.

Throughout the program, students work in teams on virtual service projects in which they apply their learning for broader social impact. The program culminates with a student-organized, virtual learning showcase and graduation event for their family members and friends to share what they learned and engage their community in global citizenry education. Students who complete all sessions and assignments earn a leadership certificate. Graduates become program alum and are invited to remain engaged with their and other cohorts through an online community.
