Global Citizen, LLC is a strategic, equity-centered consulting, coaching, and training for transformation firm that works in the United States and internationally to develop inclusive excellence leadership skills and strengthen leaders' capacity to drive organizational transformation and social impact. We are a boutique, woman and LGBTQ+-owned small business that takes a highly-customized and collaborative approach to each engagement. Global Citizen, LLC works in partnership with a diverse network of dynamic consultants and graduate fellows and collaborates with organizational leaders working across all sectors to conduct strategic assessments and landscape analyses and strategic visioning, planning, and execution; facilitate mission and values clarification and align vision, mission, values, policies, practices, and culture; strengthen capacity in organizational, leadership, and business development, racial, gender, and LGBTQ+ equity, intersectional diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB), public health, human rights, and global intercultural competence; design and facilitate virtual and in-person board, senior leadership team, and staff meetings and training sessions; deliver keynote addresses and moderate conference sessions and other events; improve performance, programs, and services; and deliver high-impact results for a better world.

 

Katherine L. Turner, MPH, Founder and President, is a proud Gillings alum and adjunct professor who teaches leadership, global competence, systems and design thinking, and various public health courses and mentors the next generation of global health leaders. She authored the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Intercultural Competence in Leadership chapter for the Leadership in Practice: Essentials for Public Health and Healthcare Leaders textbook that is taught in universities around the world. Katherine has served in senior leadership positions and founded and chaired the board of directors at numerous organizations. She provides strategic direction on global boards and advisory committees, was selected for How Women Lead’s 2023-2024 Women Leaders for the World Fellowship Program, and has won awards and recognition for her excellence in leadership, teaching, advocacy, and impact. Katherine is an internationally-recognized organizational consultant, executive leadership coach, public speaker, university adjunct professor, board leader, and change agent who has worked in English, French, and Dutch in more than 50 countries spanning five continents. Her expertise and passion intersect leadership excellence, organizational systems transformation, diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB), global public health, human rights, and intercultural competence.

 

Who We’re Looking For

​

We are seeking first-year Gillings MPH students - residential or online - who are ready to bring their experience and passion for public health and social justice to a unique and engaging fellowship experience. This primarily remote opportunity, with occasional in-person events in the Triangle, NC area, is designed for students who are proactive, innovative, organized, interculturally skillful, strong communicators, and eager to assist with the dynamic challenges of public health, leadership and organizational development, and social impact consulting. 

 

Fellowship Contributions

​

As a Global Citizen, LLC Graduate Fellow, you will have the opportunity to contribute to a variety of high-impact projects, including:

  • Research and Analysis: Conducting and analyzing research and literature reviews to inform consulting engagements, training sessions, workshops, and other offerings. 

  • Educational and Training Materials Development: Drafting educational and training materials.

  • Event Planning, Promotion, and Delivery: Assisting with the planning, preparation, promotion, delivery, and evaluation of workshops, training sessions, and other events.

  • Content Creation: Researching and drafting social media graphics and posts, promotional videos, and other content creation. 

  • Project Support: Contributing to a variety of consulting projects, courses, and other offerings that meet client needs and project deliverables. 

  • Other Responsibilities: Contributing to additional tasks and special projects as they arise. 

 

Key Skills and Qualifications

​

  • Completion (or near completion) of first-year MPH core coursework

  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to excellence

  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with people of different ages, backgrounds, and cultures

  • Proactive, independent problem-solving capabilities, and commitment to meet deadlines

  • Ability to work well individually and in a small, collaborative team environment

  • Intercultural competence in diverse, international settings

  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills and presentation ability

  • Bilingual or multilingual (preferred)

 

Fellowship Highlights

​

  • Duration: 12-month commitment (May/June 2025-May/June 2026) with the potential for an extension.

  • Gillings MPH Summer Practicum: A key component of this Fellowship involves completing your required practicum on mutually agreed-upon deliverables that are aligned with Gillings’ expectations and Global Citizen, LLC’s mission. 

  • Stipend: We provide a $3,000 base stipend, paid quarterly, upon successful completion of agreed-upon deliverables. We offer additional profit-sharing opportunities for Fellow-initiated, income-generating projects, paid upon project completion. 

  • Workload: You can anticipate between 5-10 hours/week, including occasional evenings and weekends, with flexibility depending on client, project, and deliverable needs and timing.

  • Location: While this is primarily a remote position, Fellows must reside in the USA and be available to work within Eastern Time Zone hours. Fellows provide their own computer and other supplies and equipment needed to complete project deliverables.

 

Expectations and Dismissal Policy

​

Fellows are expected to abide by the following expectations to maintain good standing in the Fellowship:

  1. Timely Deliverables: Adherence to deadlines and consistent progress on assigned tasks.

  2. Professional Conduct and Confidentiality: Maintaining client and business confidentiality and respectful and professional communications and interactions with the team, and clients, and other stakeholders. 

  3. Quality of Work: Delivering work that meets or exceeds established standards.

 

Failure to abide by these expectations may result in dismissal from the Fellowship.

The priority deadline for applications is Monday, March 3, 2025 by 11:59pm ET. We may still consider applications submitted after the priority deadline.
